OCPP DebugKit
Making EV charging traces easier to investigate.

From messages to sessions
OCPP is the protocol used between charging stations and their management systems. DebugKit turns recorded messages into reconstructed sessions and diagnostic reports, giving engineers a way to investigate the sequence of events behind a charging problem.
What I built
The TypeScript and Node.js toolkit provides trace parsing, message correlation, session reconstruction, diagnostics, replay, and report generation. It is available as an npm package and CLI, with a Next.js browser inspector and reusable React inspector components.
I also built a separate native desktop analyzer in Zig for large offline traces and local WebSocket capture. The two implementations use a shared trace format and versioned conformance fixtures to check their behavior. The implemented protocol scope is OCPP 1.6.
What external use revealed
Use with an external charging-point simulator exposed two multi-connector state defects. I fixed both and added regression tests. That work connects the diagnostic tooling to concrete protocol behavior, with fixes that can be inspected in the public repositories.
I also contribute to Open OCPP Trace, a vendor-neutral trace format for simulators and diagnostic tools.
